Enlist these conservatives for Indian River County School Board

"Rosario...will insist on financial transparency...will support school choice and innovative charter schools. Traditional public education and parent involvement have been the bedrock of our country’s success for many years. We need Rosario and Barenborg on the school board to see it continues."

Remaining Indian River School Board candidates all well-known in education and community circles

"The two winners will join education consultant Mara Schiff on a new-look board loaded with newcomers.

Rosario received 8,889 votes — 49 more than Green's 8,840 votes, according to the supervisor of elections.

Rosario — who has spent decades as an educator and administrator in New York, St. Lucie and Indian River counties — also wants better communication from the district. Further, she wants to expand extracurricular programs for home-schooled students and provide more services to students with special needs and those learning English as a second language.
Rosario touts her experience as a school administrator, as well as her time managing funds on Title 1, low-income campuses, among her qualifications for a board position.

Rosario also has stressed the district's need to emphasize mental-health care for students; Green has called for one-mental health counselor for every school resource officer."

Rosario’s support of choice distinguishes her in IRC School Board race

Rosario’s support of choice distinguishes her in IRC School Board race.

"I like that she understands the value of school choice. She believes that all children’s learning needs are different. As she explained that night regarding school choice, “Parents have a right to decide what learning environment is best for their child. In addition to her educational experience, she demonstrates great leadership skills.”

Candidates make pitch for votes at School Board forum

Written by: Kathleen Sloan August 18 2018

“Jacqueline Rosario, also a District 2 candidate, led with “I am a woman of faith” in her introduction, the only candidate mentioning religion.Having worked as an assistant principal of an alternative high school in New York state, where students “were over-age and under-credited,” she said the district’s alternative school “is just a holding place for kids with behavior problems.” Vocational training is a real alternative “for non-college bound students,” she said.”

Wolff, Rosario, Barenborg for Indian River County School Board

LETTER TO THE EDITOR of TCPalm.com

Treasure Coast NewspapersPublished 4:00 a.m.  Aug. 13, 2018

Many of us woke up years ago when we discovered the liberal left pushing the propagandized Common Core curriculum and testing system.
Along with federally mandated data collection following every child from nearly cradle to adulthood, we understood the power of federal education control.
We worked locally and in Tallahassee to curtail the onslaught, but it was an uphill battle.

The old progressives who promoted Common Core are back on the scene locally advising new candidates. It sets off alarms, as do the dirty tricks pulled by nefarious supporters.
They know that controlling the money and systems means molding generations to come.

Who you vote for at the local school board level is where you can truly make a difference. This isn’t child’s play. School board members oversee the management of millions of taxpayer dollars, thousands of employees and the teaching and shaping of thousands of children.

Although school board races are politically unaffiliated, the party registration of candidates is public information.

Character and credentials also matter. Youthful exuberance is great but trumped by education and experience.
Overseeing the management of this large operation and withstanding the political and social pressures takes talent, strength and understanding.

From a policy standpoint: Do they support school choice and charters? Would they organize a citizen advisory board to review textbooks and curriculum including the content of on-line programs? Would they push for more transparency and accountability of the superintendent?

I’ve been surprised by the level of smears, lies and innuendos during this campaign season. It tells us just what is at stake. Choose wisely.

For me, the best candidates for Indian River County School Board are Eugene Wolff, Jackie Rosario, and Teri Barenborg.

Treasure Coast Newspaper Editorial Board Writes: Jackie Rosario has by Far the Most Education Experience of the Four

"Jacqueline Rosario, 48, has by far the most education experience of the four. She has master’s degrees in divinity, educational administration and special education. She has taught in a Brooklyn, New York, alternative school, at a tutoring company and been an assistant principal in St. Lucie and Indian River counties. Now she’s dean of a Bible college in Vero Beach.

Like Bermudez, her management experience could be helpful at the district. So would her experience at schools that have many lower-income students."
