Vocational/Technical College

I would like to work to grow and expand our vocational programs.

The new Treasure Coast Technical College is the first of its kind in our area. The new location is centrally located for ease of commuting located at 4680 28th Court, Vero Beach, Florida 32967.

It is set up to receive 800 to 1,000 students. These studies will be a free dual enrollment option for high schoolers in IRC.  The classes will be open to our students and adults in community seeking certifications.

We had a community task force work on advising us of the skilled trade needs.  Many builders, realtors, business owners were a part of that task force. We are looking to offer certifications toward careers in a year so the students who are not college bound can leave high school with a skilled trade.

Technical Areas of Study at the Treasure Coast Technical College currently have the following programs:

• Medical Assisting
• Medical Coder/Biller
• Certified Nursing Assistant
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Pharmacy Technician
• Phlebotomy (dual enrollment)
• Commercial and Culinary Arts – Adult
• Early Childhood Education – Dual Enrollment
• Building Construction Technologies – Dual Enrollment
• Welding Technologies, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing– Dual Enrollment

Jackie Rosario supports technical and vocational training for students. Not every student is college bound and if we continue to offer these opportunities we will begin to see the achievement gap decrease.  Two additional areas Jackie would love to see added is Marine and Oceanography studies, and Veterinary Tech Certification.

Jackie will be a School Board Member that will partner with the Realtors Association, Builders Association IR County, and like companies to ensure this initiative does not falter.  We have to also connect with and build relationships with local business owners and Human Resources departments within these companies to not only keep jobs in our community but to ensure graduates from our Technical College are the first sought after persons for these companies. Jackie’s hope is that the Technical College will be adopted by local companies to fill their workforce needs.

Paid for and approved by Jacqueline  Rosario for School Board.
